About Stephen Walker

Registered Clinical Social Worker

Hello, I am Stephen. I'm a caring and experienced counsellor who believes in welcoming everyone, including those with diverse ways of thinking. I have a lot of experience helping people with their mental health. I'm good at handling tough situations, working with nonprofit groups, intervening during crises and providing support through counselling. I earned a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from The University of Calgary, and I really enjoy mentoring the next generation of counsellors.

I have been practicing as a fully licensed counsellor since 2013.

If you're curious about what I do, let's set up a free 15-minute consultation. We can chat about how I might be able to help you out. Looking forward to connecting!

"I'm humbled by each clients' journey, particularly how they've kept going or survived. Truely, it's an honor to offer what I can to support any steps towards their next summit."

— Stephen Walker

"As someone who strives to acknowledge and move through my own growth edges, I'm energized and encouraged to work as a team with each of my clients."

— Stephen Walker

"Change is hard sometimes but feeling stuck can be brutal in its own way. We all need help getting out of a ditch from time to time. Asking for help is not only the first step, it summons our greatest qualities and forges some of our most meaningful bonds with each other."

FAQs

What is your availability for sessions?

As I am gradually building my practice in balance with my personal life, the days and times I offer are continually changing. During your consultation meeting, be sure to ask what availability I have.

Does my insurance cover these sessions?

The simple answer is "maybe."

Each organization uniquely determines its benefit plans, so the best option is to check if my credentials match your plan.

What are your credentials?

I'm a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW) and Registered Social Worker with a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work.

Do you offer emergency counselling?

In short, as my availability is balanced by my other responsibilities, I do not.

How will my information be used?

As a counsellor committed to maintaining excellence in my practice, I do a variety of practices to keep my skills sharp. One of them is to consult with other professionals and get supervision of my counselling practice. During these activities I might choose to discuss a client's case to get insight into how I can better serve their needs. That said, no identifying information (name, address, etc.) is shared and the other professionals I work with are registered and held to the same high standards as me to ensure your privacy.

I will also use Outcome Rating Scale (ORS) data to evaluate the impact of services among all of my clients to identify opportunities to seek out specific training or supervision based on themes in which client's benefit from my services. As above, no identifying information will be disclosed or shared during this process.

All of your information is held privately and securely maintained according to the standards of the Alberta College of Social Work (www.acsw.ca) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

Still have questions? Please book a consultation or feel free to email me your concerns.
